AVIO brings essential flight weather, airport reference and pilot planning tools together in one iPhone app. It is designed for pilots who want quick access to the information they use before, during and after a flight.
Plan with current aviation weather
AVIO provides METAR and TAF reports with both original and decoded views. When available, the app identifies VFR, MVFR, IFR and LIFR conditions so pilots can understand the operational context more quickly.
- Search stations by ICAO code.
- Save favorite stations for fast access.
- Find nearby stations using the device location.
- Review SIGMETs and aviation weather advisories.
- Explore stations, METAR reports and flight conditions on an interactive map.
- Open official FAA airport diagram links when available.
Keep departure and arrival weather close
The AVIO widget displays the METAR for two airports selected by the pilot: one departure airport and one arrival airport. The Apple Watch app provides the same departure and arrival focus, together with a flight timer.
Flight calculators for practical decisions
AVIO includes calculators and reference tools for common flight-planning tasks:
- Crosswind and wind triangle calculations.
- Density altitude and pressure conversions.
- Weight and balance.
- Fuel planning and airspeed conversions.
- Distance, point of no return and equal-time calculations.
- Airport lookup, coordinate conversion and aviation terminology reference.
Logbook and flight history
The built-in logbook records aircraft, route, hours by category, landings and pilot observations. A flight calendar, summaries for the last 7, 30 and 365 days, period analysis and aircraft profiles help turn individual entries into a useful record of flying activity.
Logs can be exported as CSV. The private iCloud account backup supports backup and restoration of the flight log and favorite stations for the user's devices.
Apple Watch support
Flights timed on Apple Watch are sent to the iPhone so the pilot can review the entry before adding it to the logbook. This keeps timing convenient while leaving the final record under the pilot's control.
Data source and safety note
AVIO requires an internet connection for meteorological data. Weather information comes from the Aviation Weather Center. The app is a reference and planning aid; pilots remain responsible for consulting official sources, current briefings, applicable regulations and approved operational procedures before flight.
